Each early voter is grouped by the March primaries they voted in (2024 and 2026): Democratic only, Republican only, both, or neither. Lean is the Democratic-only share minus the Republican-only share. It describes who has voted so far. It is not a vote count, a result or a forecast.
Cumulative share of in-person early voters in each group, by day of early voting, for 2026, 2024 and 2022. “Final” adds in-person Election Day voters (2022 and 2024).
End of early voting: D+17.2 in 2024 and D+18.8 in 2022. Final, with Election Day: D+15.8 and D+15.6. 2026 through Day 4: D+28.8 (2024 at Day 4: D+17.0; 2022: D+16.5).
Final = in-person early voting plus in-person Election Day. Mail ballots are not included.

Method and sources
Sources (public records only): Dallas County Elections' in-person early-voting rosters for Nov 2022, Nov 2024 and Nov 2026, and its March 2024 and March 2026 primary rosters (early voting, Election Day and mail ballots returned). City and commissioner precinct come from the county's public voter list.
Voters are matched across rosters by state voter ID, privately. Only totals are published; no voter-level data is shown or shared.
The same primary basis (2024 and 2026 primaries) is used for all three years, so the years compare like with like. In-person early votes only; mail ballots are not in these rosters by day.
Day 4 is the same early-voting day each year (early voting starts on a Monday each time).
The day-by-day chart uses the same method: each point is everyone who had voted in person by the end of that day. "Final" for 2022 and 2024 adds the county's in-person Election Day rosters; mail ballots are not included.
Gaps
The 2020 and 2022 primary rosters are not posted on the county's site, so primary history covers only 2024 and 2026.
People who voted in 2022 but have since moved away were less likely to vote in the 2024 or 2026 primaries, so 2022 has a slightly larger "neither" share for that reason.
In March 2026, about 2.7 times as many people voted in the Democratic primary as in the Republican primary (about 1.2 times in March 2024). That imbalance on its own pushes 2026 toward a larger Democratic-only share, so 2026 is not a like-for-like match with 2024 or 2022, in either direction.
A primary vote shows which ballot someone chose that day, not how they will vote in November.
