The short version
- No accounts, no sign-ups, no forms. We don't ask for your name, email or anything else.
- We set no cookies and run no ad or cross-site trackers.
- The site is free to view, with no ads, no sales and no subscriptions. Voter data is never sold, rented, or used for commercial purposes.
- We never publish information about any individual voter. The site shows only modeled, aggregate numbers.
1Who we are
The Dallas County Early Vote Tracker (the “site”) at https://dallasearlyvote.com is owned and operated by Cinder and Crown LLC, a Texas limited liability company (“we,” “us”), doing business as Cinder & Crown Creative. This policy explains what happens to information when you visit the site and how we handle the voter information behind our models.
2What we collect when you visit
Very little. The site is a set of static pages with no login, no forms and no visitor database.
- Hosting logs. Our host, Vercel, automatically records standard request details (such as IP address, browser type, page requested, referring page and time) to deliver the site, keep it secure and fix problems. We don't use these logs to identify you.
- Aggregate visit counts. We may use Vercel Web Analytics to count page views. It works without cookies, reports only totals (such as page views, referring sites, country and device type), and doesn't track you across other websites.
- What you type stays on your device. Searches, filters and settings on the page are handled in your browser and aren't sent to us.
3Cookies and on-device storage
We don't set cookies. The page uses your browser's local storage for three things only:
- Snapshots of the county's public turnout totals, so the daily chart can fill in over time.
- Your “auto-refresh” on/off setting.
- A small Count Watch log of the county's public totals the page has already checked, which is stored in your own browser (localStorage) and never leaves your device.
This information never leaves your device and contains nothing about you. You can remove it anytime by clearing this site's data in your browser. The site also includes a standard web-app manifest so you can add it to your home screen; it doesn't install a background service.
4Services your browser connects to
To show live numbers and maps, your browser loads content directly from these providers. Like any website request, each one receives your IP address and basic browser information, and each has its own privacy policy:
- Dallas County Elections' public vote-center data, hosted on ArcGIS Online (Esri).
- OpenStreetMap map tiles.
- unpkg and jsDelivr, which deliver the open-source map and chart code.
- Vercel, which hosts the site.
The Privacy and Terms pages themselves load nothing from outside providers.
5No selling or sharing
We don't sell, rent, trade or share personal information, and we don't use it for advertising. We would disclose information only if the law requires it or to protect the site and its users from abuse or security threats.
6How we handle voter data
Our forecasts come from a proprietary model built from a private voter database matched against public voter rolls. Here's how we treat that information:
- Lawfully obtained. It comes from public records and private sources that we obtain lawfully.
- Election purposes only. We use it only for election and political analysis, such as turnout estimates and race outlooks.
- Never published about individuals. The site shows only aggregated, modeled results for the county, districts and races. It never shows, and can't be used to look up, any person's registration, vote history or other details.
- Never used commercially. We don't sell it, license it, or use it for any commercial purpose. Texas law limits voter registration information to non-commercial uses, and we follow those limits.
- Kept off the public site. The underlying data and model are stored privately with restricted access and are never placed on this website.
To check your own voter registration, use the official tools at dallascountyvotes.org or votetexas.gov.
7Security
The site is served only over encrypted HTTPS, holds no visitor accounts and stores no visitor data of its own. We protect the private data behind our models with access controls and keep it off public systems. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to keep risks low.
8How long information is kept
We don't keep visitor records ourselves. Hosting logs and aggregate visit counts are kept by Vercel under its standard retention periods. Voter data is kept only as long as it's needed for election analysis, then securely deleted or archived.
9Children
The site is meant for a general adult audience and isn't directed to children under 13. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we'll delete it.
10Your choices
You can clear this site's local storage, block third-party content, or use privacy tools in your browser. Because we don't track you across sites, “Do Not Track” and Global Privacy Control signals don't change anything here; we already don't track.
11Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. The effective date at the top will change when we do. Using the site after an update means the updated policy applies.
12Governing law
This policy is governed by the laws of the State of Texas.
